Dutch Goodies Giveaway

I haven't really stopped to breathe since I got here. Between tearing down the basement, sorting through boxes upon boxes of stuff and figuring out what to do with it, making this evil dress for the wedding I'm participating in tomorrow, and trying to visit with people when I have a chance between all the other stuff (which sadly hasn't been much to this point) I am feeling a little bit worn out. I had a bit of a meltdown this morning, but I'm feeling better now and have something to giveaway to make someone ELSE feel better too!

DSCN0754

It's an assortment of goodies from The Netherlands. I've got some snoepjes (chewy candies), stroopwafels, een gember koek (ginger cake), anijsblokjes (anise flavored blocks to make warm drinks with), koninginnensoep (Queen Soup), peer (pear) Sultana's, and chocolade (chocolate) to share with one lucky person.  I forgot to take a picture but I've also got a little Dutch "wooden shoe" to toss in with it!

What do you need to do to win this assortment of goodies? Leave me a comment on this post and tell me something that you'd like me to post about in the future or a question you'd like me to answer in a later post. You need to make sure your e-mail address is visible in your profile or leave me a way to contact you in your comment.  That's it! I'll take comments until 10pm (MST) on May 13th, 2009 (next Wednesday). I shall employ the random number generator to pick a winner and I'll ship anywhere.  If you are IN The Netherlands and win, I strongly urge you to share the wealth with someone who doesn't have easy access to these goodies!

Hahaha! I especially love the "Cup a Soup" That is my favorite, I think.
I love hearing about the holidays, and the ways you celebrate them. i have recently been learning about my ancestry and that of my husband's, and wouldn't you know it, we have family from The Netherlands, so learning about the holidays and customs is a huge treat for me (i am so wanting to try the dinner cooked out of the tiny frying pans. I LOVED that idea).

I would like to know more about living in the Netherlands. The differences from it and the US. What are the good points and bad points but mostly the good on living in another country. I think it would be great to learn more about our world by living it instead of reading it. Also how is the cooking different.

I lived in Russia for two years and would like you to continue posting on the extreme differences of doing simple day to tasks overseas. I loved wehn my brother (the one who died last month) came to visit me in Russia. He made all these great observations about the different cultures. Like the time he said you could make a lot of money here if you had the recipe for ice cubes.

I would love to see a great post for the Fourth of July with some yummy recipes (like a cherry pie one) and fun ideas for the Fourth or a story about your favorite Fourth of July.

I am so sorry if I misunderstood where you are from. In the post I just sent I talked about the Fourth of July. If you are in the Netherlands, rather than the states, you could make the post about one of your favorite holidays and share recipes pertaing to that celebration. Please only use one of my two comments to "publish." I am not wanting two entries into the giveaway, I just made an error with my earlier comment. So sorry.

I am new to your site, but the Netherlands caught my eye. I was there for a few short rainy hours last July. Our ship docked there in Amsterdam, and then it was on our way to the airport. Your country was lovely and people so friendly! Would love to go back someday to get a real experience.

I will save you the postage. You can just bring the box of treats to Minnesota at the end of the week. I think it would be neat to see you write a post on what cute cousins you have that live in Minnesota.

Oh...this would be so fun to try! We are candy and chocolate lovers here!

I would love for you to share some recipes on here. I love to cook and it would be fun to try new foods from different places!

I just came across your blog and it is great. I have a few questions for you about being so far from home. Has your family been able to travel to see you there? Also, are there a lot of members (LDS)in the Netherlands? Just Curious.
PS That kitchen tip...(eggplant post) looks great!
